Summit Expands Smartphone Payment Services to all Registers
Newly Launched Summit Group Clothing Chain Colmopia Also Launches Smartphone Payments
Summit, Inc. (Headquarters: Eifuku, Suginami-ku, Tokyo; President: Tetsuya Hattori; Business: Food supermarkets and retail chain stores dealing in other lifestyle-related products, with 117 Summit Stores [as of April 3, 2020]; hereinafter “Summit”) has announced today that it will expand eligibility of smartphone payment services, which were introduced in September 2019, to all registers, and that all of its storefronts will accept these payments as of April 4 (Sat).
With this new expansion of service eligibility, Summit Colmo, Inc. (operator of Summit Group clothing chain Colmopia, with 43 Colmopia stores [as of April 3, 2020]; hereinafter referred to as “Colmopia”) also accepts nine* kinds of smartphone payments, like Summit.
* Services accepted: PayPay, LINE Pay, Merpay, Alipay, WeChat Pay, d-barai (Docomo Pay), au PAY, J-Coin Pay, and Yuucho Pay (Japan Post Pay).
This expansion of eligible registers for smartphone payment services is spearheaded with the cooperation of SCSK Corporation (Headquarters: Koto-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and Chief Executive Officer: Toru Tanihara) and NetStars Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Tsuyoshi Ri).
In October 2018, Summit launched its Summit Digital Transformation (SDX) group-wide project team, which studied a variety of topics, including adapting to the cashless era, labor saving, next-generation e-commerce, and approaching customers from the digital native generation.
