NETSTARS StarPay to Support Thai Payment Service PromptPay from September 14
Improved convenience for tourists visiting Japan and support for stimulating inbound spending

NETSTARS Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Tsuyoshi Ri; “NETSTARS”) announced that it has partnered with Bank of Ayudhya (head office: Bangkok) and that the NETSTARS StarPay multi-payment platform will begin supporting Thailand’s PromptPay money transfer and QR code payment service starting from September 14th, 2022. NETSTARS StarPay’s launch of  PromptPay acceptance will enable customers to make payments in stores using PromptPay.

PromptPay is a money transfer and QR code payment service spanning Thai financial institutions and enables money transfers via Internet banking, mobile banking as well as QR code payments in stores by linking bank account numbers with mobile phone numbers. The number of registrants exceeded 63 million(*) as of 2022, and it is a service that is becoming the payment infrastructure in Thailand.

As of September 2022, StarPay assists cashless payments in stores by supporting major QR code payment services in addition to overseas QR code payment services from countries such as China, South Korea and Taiwan. The commencement PromptPay’s acceptance on Starpay will increase convenience for travelers from Thailand, as tourists to Japan are expected to increase due to the relaxation of entry restrictions and also respond to the increased international payments needs of stores and companies seeking to capture further inbound demand. Thai tourists will now be able to make payments in Japan very easily with much lower fees without changing money or carrying cash and this is expected to increase sales on the merchants’ store side.

In future, NETSTARS will work to further expand the payment brands supported by StarPay to improve the customer experience for tourists visiting Japan from more countries and regions and provide support to merchant stores and companies using Starpay’sservice forcashless payments.
